CASE Study Challenge #74

Well lookie here, another card, whaaaa?  I guess I couldn't resist playing with another CASE Study Challenge with this month's muse Jen Rzasa (Challenge #74)!  Here's Jen's inspiration card for this week...
Look at all the yummy colors and bold shapes in this one!  So, so cute!

I've never been good at mixing and matching patterned papers, so I took my inspiration from that cute petal/leaf shape.  That shape always makes me think of designers like Orla Kiely and Kate Spade.  Flowery, but still modern.  This shape also happens to be included in my well-loved Modern Basics set (PTI).  So just one stamp from Modern Basics and a slew of ink pads later, I came up with this...

I placed a strip of soft stone cardstock between the two popped up panels to create a kind of stem.  And to get a bit of texture going, I used an impression plate on my cardstock BEFORE stamping all the elements.  Not only does this give flat stamps some dimension, it also covers up bad stamping (like I'm prone to do because I'm an impatient ninny).  Those aren't bald spots, it's texture, people!

And with this post, I'm done for the night!  Thanks for visiting and have a bitchin' Friday!! (my goodness, I'm getting loopy at this late hour;)

  1. I'm going to Zumba tonight - it's totally gonna be bitchin'. TGIF! No kids allowed ;)
I love your card, especially the bald {ahem - texture!} bits. A lot of my layers come from covering up/embellishing/fixing my impatient ninny errors (like the stamp falling off the block onto the card? UGH) And all those colours? Fab!

  2. You absolutely nailed it. I love this card. The colors are wonderful, and that layer of soft stone really works well.

  3. JJ - I've been putting CASE off this week - after seeing yours I might skip it all together - I don't think I stand a chance! You totally nailed this! Love love love the bright colors - it reminds me of a new palatte of paints!!! You totally blew this away - PERFECT!

  4. what a gorgeous card to celebrate Friday!! Love your slew of colours! Thanks so much for playing with us over on CASE Study!
