Becky Oehlers Stamps: You Say Goodbye and I Say 'Ello

Today our mini DT is showcasing the newest set from Becky Oehlers Stamps (through Gina K Designs)!  The set is called "You Say Goodbye and I Say 'Ello" and it is beyond a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e!  They are available on the Gina K website now in rubber or clear!  And don't forget to get the cut files too if you have a Silhouette Cameo!  How cute are these stamps!?

Last month's stamps were all about All-American goodness, but this month's stamps are all about Euro~cuteness!  My first card uses that adorable little cup of coffee (or tea)!  I paired him with the sunburst stamp from this set.  I thought "guten tag" was the perfect sentiment because at our house good days definitely start with a strong cup o' joe!  I fussy cut the cup and popped him up over the polaroid frame.  Easy and so cute!   (I cut the frame with my Silhouette but it would be really easy to do by hand)

For my second card I chose to use the little boy doxie.  The look on his face made me think he was in trouble, so I had to put him in the doghouse!  The doghouse allowed me to really stretch him out:)  I printed off the sentiment and stamped the speech bubble around it.  I love the way that Becky designed the speech bubbles with the hand-drawn lines.  So unique!

Thanks so much for stopping in!  As always, it was fun to play with Becky's designs and I can't wait to see what she and the other DTer's have made!  To see more "You Say Goodbye and I Say 'Ello" goodies, follow the links to visit Becky, Vera, and Latisha!

The Cameo Spotlight Challenge #4: Triangles

It's time for the next The Cameo Spotlight challenge and we have some fun news to share!  Not only do we have a fantastic guest designer for this challenge, but...wait for it...we're  offering a really awesome prize!  Woohoo!  Our first ever sponsor is Lettering Delights!  They offer a wide variety of digital products including SVGs.  Check out The Cameo Spotlight for details:)

The theme for this challenge is TRIANGLES!   Triangles are popping up everywhere in arrows, chevrons, etc.!  You know you can have fun with this theme!
For this card, I used a cut file that I made myself:)  It's all straight lines, so it was super easy!   To spice it up a bit I threw in some gold triangles with a variety of bold colors.   The triangles are "inlaid" into the frame so that's it's all one layer (the layer itself is popped up on foam tape).  I finished it off with a curvy sentiment to contrast all the angles.

You want to try this card yourself?  Pic up the studio file here or click on the pic below!  {Please review the terms of use for my cut files here}

Click on over to The Cameo Spotlight challenge site to see more challenge Silhouette creations from the TCS DT and our fabulous guest designer, Jin Yong!  Then it will be your turn to create your own card or tag and link up:)  I hope that all you Cameo owners (even you newbies) jump in!

Moxie Fab World The Movement Challenge

Slowly continuing my quest to make it through all 5 of the Moxie Fab Card Design Handbook challenges!   Each Moxie Fab challenge highlights a specific design principle from the issue.  Cards for asymmetry and repetition are done, and today I'm trying out movement for the Moxie Fab World's Movement Challenge! {Seriously consider getting the Card Design Handbook if you haven't already done so!  So much great info!}  My projects were so easy this time that I did 2 different versions.

This first card could not get simpler. The chevron stamp is pretty easy to line up so I didn't have to use any masking to get this done.

For this second card, I used the same chevron stamp but masked it this time.  Depending on the application, I use a variety of "papers" for masking.  This time I tried to use my Post-It tape.  This tape is slightly thicker than regular Post-It notes and copy paper.  Depending on the stamp, the thickness can cause an incomplete stamped image.  This was the case for the chevron stamp (see the gaps where the image meets the tape).  Usually when this happens, I start over.  This time though, I removed the mask and actually liked the mistake better!  I like the "feathery" feel:)

Hopefully, I can get through the rest of the Moxie Fab Card Design Handbook challenges before they end on the 24th!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  I don't say it enough, but your visits and comments are always appreciated!

Moxie Fab World Repetition Challenge: Neon on the Farm

After my mini blog hiatus this summer, I am bound and determined to get myself back into the cardmaking groove.  As a challenge to myself, I've decided that I would *try* to work my way through all 5 of the Moxie Fab Card Design Handbook challenges!   Each Moxie Fab challenge highlights a specific design principle from the issue.  I've already put my card in for asymmetry here, and today I'm playing along with the Moxie Fab World's Repetition Challenge!   {If you haven't already gotten this issue, I highly recommend it.  Lots of information and lovely examples:)}

As you can see, I didn't go with literal repetition, but more a repetition of a theme.  To break up the neon, I did some color blocking on each animal.  The pig and cow are color blocked with gold and the duck and horse with black.  The strip under the animals is in the gold card stock as well.  I had a heck of a time trying to photograph this card, but in person the colors are SO RAD.  Love the neon/gold/black combo!

The card is finished off with a sentiment from the Hero Arts Heyday Sentiments set!  I bought this set just to get this sentiment.  I've lived in Virginia so long that I've taken on a bit of the Southern talk including using the occasional "y'all":)  Hubby is definitely a southerner but I joke with him that technically, I'm from a more southern state;)

The Moxie Fab Card Design Handbook challenges end on the 24th, so there's still lots of time if you want to join in the fun!  As always, I'm so happy that you stopped in for a bit!  Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Play Date Cafe Challenge #148 & Moxie Fab World Asymmetry Challenge

Today I'm sharing a card inspired by Jocelyn, Amy, and Veronica over at Play Date Cafe!  I saw their beautiful cards come up in my Google reader and was inspired to play along with the PDC's beautiful color combo challenge!
Along with the colors, I was inspired by the picture of the feathers in the inspiration pic.  It was just serendipity when I found that my feather stamp was just the right size for my inkwell die!  {The inkwell is actually a small vase die}  I cut the inkwell from vellum blended with ink to get that soft peach color.  The bottom of the die cut is covered with peach cardstock for 2 reasons: it looks like it's filled with ink AND it covers up the foam tape I used to attach the vellum vase to the card.
As I was planning the card, I wanted something under the inkwell to ground it.  I settled on the circle border stamp but quickly realized something was lacking.  So I used a small circle stamp to randomly fill in some of the circles.  To finish off the card, I debossed the top of the card (above the border) with a linen impression plate and attached the inkwell.  So happy with how it turned out!  My favorite part is the neck of the inkwell where you can *just* see the tip of the feather.  It's the little things people:)

Now I'm off to post it to Play Date Cafe Challenge and while I'm at it, the Moxie Fab Asymmetry Challenge too!  As always, MAHALO (thank you) for stopping by!

Just a I was putting together this post, I realized that this reminded me of this lovely card from the even lovelier Karolyn Loncon!  I hope my card is different enough that Karolyn doesn't mind me CASEing her and posting to a couple challenges!

The Cameo Spotlight #3 ~ Color Challenge

Are you ready for the next The Cameo Spotlight challenge?  This time, Jackie is challenging us with a COLOR CHALLENGE!  The colors are a slate blue, light tan, and natural soft green.  For the challenge, remember you can also include neutrals like white, kraft, and black :)

For this card, I used a tree silhouette file from the Silhouette store (design #17677) and merged it with a circle shape to create a window.  The rolling hills background was also done on the Silhouette (easy to draw free hand with the curve feature).

I enjoy making my own cut files most and rarely use purchased files as is.  That's the case with this tree.  In addition to merging it with the circle, I did a bit of tree trimming!  By that I mean, I did some point editing of the branches to get rid of the smaller cut areas and to reshape the tree trunk.  So easy to get exactly what you want!

I used vellum (with a bit of blended ink) for the sky background and cardstock (with more blended ink) for the hill piece.  To give it one last detail, I debossed the cut overlay with a woodgrain impression plate.   Texture always seems to make a card look finished!

Click on over to The Cameo Spotlight challenge site to see more challenge Silhouette creations from the TCS DT!  Then it will be your turn to create your own card or tag and link up:)  Can't wait to see what you create!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
